Limited Resources make better marketers

Do advertisers with limited resources make better marketers?nomoney

I would argue so. When you just don’t have the funds to explore certain avenues, that in a way forces you to probe deeper and try to find opportunities that are either free or just more cost effective. In my experience running a young independent brokerage with limited advertising budgets, I have found that I was often very skeptical about where my advertising dollar went. I would question every opportunity thoroughly and make a decision based on a return on investment perspective versus an inclination to just try out something. For instance, instead of paying a local company thousands of dollars a year for SEO, I researched the internet and learned all I could about the topic. Now, I optimize my sites on my own and this costs me time and thoughts but not money. And I believe that has made me a better advertiser, because even though now I might have increased advertising budgets, I feel like I have gained a higher level of discipline in spending that budget where it truly will benefit the business best. Now, I will admit that advertising works best when it is diversified into different media. And often cases, you truly have no indication of exactly how something works until you actually try it and spend the money to do so. But in any case, I believe that possessing a certain discipline whether you are making a $200/mo or a $20,000/mo decision makes one a better advertiser. I would be intrigued to hear some of your viewpoints on this.
